Come with us on a beautiful walk through the Imbros Gorge, one of the most famous gorges in Crete. This tour is perfect for people who love nature, fresh air, and easy hiking. The Imbros Gorge Tour is a great choice for families, couples, solo travelers, and anyone looking for a peaceful adventure in the mountains.
Imbros Gorge is in the region of Sfakia, in the southern part of Crete. It is about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from popular areas like Chania or Rethymno. The gorge starts near the mountain village of Imbros and ends in the small village of Komitades.
The Imbros Gorge Tour is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) long and takes around 2 to 2.5 hours to walk. The path goes downhill and is not too difficult. Most people of all ages can enjoy it.
You will walk between high rock walls, some only 2 meters apart. The narrow passages, cliffs, and stone paths make this walk very special. There are many shady spots, so even on warm days, the walk feels nice and cool.
Along the way, you will see wild herbs, flowers, and trees that grow only in Crete. If you like plants or photography, you will love this place.
Imbros Gorge also has an interesting history. During World War II, many local people and Allied soldiers used the gorge as a secret path to escape.
At the end of the gorge, you will reach Komitades village. Here, you can rest, enjoy a cold drink, or eat a traditional Cretan meal in a local taverna before returning.
It's no longer available, but don’t worry – we have plenty of other amazing experiences for you!
